Robinson Wood Utilization Center

Robinson Wood Utilization Center

The Wood Utilization Center is a wood manufacturing education, community and research center located on UK’s Robinson Center for Appalachian Resource Sustainability (RCARS) in Breathitt County. The Wood Center has a deep history of forest and wood training for the industry and community. Ongoing research and training occurs with the equipment in this unique laboratory and applied technology facility that helps support the economic health and prosperity of the people and forests of Kentucky and the surrounding region. Undergraduate forestry students spend part of their field semester in the Wood Center as part of their curriculum. Additional activities that occur there are “Wood Product Workshops” using locally harvested hardwood lumber from the forests of our region. These workshops are available by request to Family Consumer Science (FCS), homemaker, and other small groups for educational purposes.
