Forage Research
Led by Gene Olson, Agriculture Research Specialist Sr., the forage trials at the Robinson Center have been conducted for 20+ years. Tall Fescue and Orchard Grass are planted in the Fall on an every other year rotation, weather permitting. Likewise, Red Clover is planted in the Spring on the same rotation. Alfalfa and Teff Grasses have been planted in past years as well. Nitrogen is applied to the grasses each Spring and sometimes repeated in late August. Stand ratings are taken in the Spring and Fall, and harvests are conducted multiple times throughout the year. Collected data is evaluated at the end of each growing season.
